National Labor Relations Act is adopted in Washington, D.C.

Also called the Wagner Act, it is signed by President Franklin Roosevelt Jr. The law grants workers the right to organize, authorizes union elections, establishes safeguards against unfair labor practices, gives workers the right to collective bargaining, and creates the National Labor Relations Board.
